Session Sneak Peak: PT Co-Treat

Co-Treating with PT

If you don’t already know, I practice in a team based Early Intervention model. If you aren’t familiar with this head over to @the.real.ots.of.ei and check out the posts we’ve done explaining this model - we also have a podcast episode (ep.9) on it!

In this model I get to have joint sessions with other disciplines which is really cool. It’s a great way to learn as a new graduate and benefits our families tremendously so I thought it’d be fun to talk through one of these sessions.

In this post, you’ll meet my friend “B” an adorable little one with goals related to physical development. In this case, I am the “team lead” for the child which means I meet twice a month with the family and during one of those visits, the PT joins.

This is an example of one of my “treat on the fly” kind of sessions which basically means we just check in and get updates since the previous session, observe the child play, and make suggestions as we go. My brain is usually going a mile a minute during these sessions but it definitely gets easier with time, experience, and knowledge.

There are two very key elements in this case that we are working on: crawling and transitioning. Any guesses why I say that? I can’t give it all away because the point of these posts is really to help you see and develop your own clinical reasoning skills but if you have an idea let me know in the comments section.
